Job Summary:
This role is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Fire and Rescue Training Center and programs. This position is expected to help determine the direction of the center, monitor program budgets, and to lead institutional and community outreach. This position is expected to have a high level of department specific knowledge.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Performance Requirements
⦁ Coordinates complex fire and rescue training programs, ensuring alignment with Tarrant County College and Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) standards
⦁ Performs advanced administrative and technical functions supporting instructional delivery, certification compliance, and facility operations, including developing, scheduling, and assigning fire and rescue courses, coordinating instructor availability, student enrollment, and resource allocation
⦁ Supports the daily operations of the Fire and Rescue Training Center, ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to college and regulatory policies
⦁ Supports community outreach initiatives and fosters partnerships with regional fire departments, public safety agencies, and industry stakeholders
⦁ Performs complex, specialized tasks related to curriculum development, instructional support, and program accreditation
⦁ Supports administrative and instructional support staff, providing guidance, evaluation, and professional development and helps to establish unit goals, priorities, and performance benchmarks to support continuous program improvement and student success
⦁ Assists in managing the program budget, ensuring efficient use of college and grant resources.
⦁ Assists with the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new instructors and staff to maintain instructional excellence
Service Excellence
⦁ Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations
Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
⦁ Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College (TCC) Institute
⦁ Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision
Works under general supervision of the assigned department leadership

Required Minimum Qualifications:
⦁ Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements; or any equivalent combination of education and work-related working experience
⦁ Current Texas Commission on Fire Protection Instructor III certification or an equivalent credential
Preferred Qualifications:
⦁ At least one (1) year’s working experience in a college or university setting related to the Essential Performance Requirements
⦁ At least one (1) year’s working experience serving as a Fire Service Chief Officer or other related fire department senior leader
⦁ At least one (1) year’s working experience as a fire service instructor
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
⦁ Knowledge of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) requirements, and best practices in fire and rescue education
⦁ Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships
⦁ Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
⦁ Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
⦁ Ability to use computer applications and enterprise systems, including proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
⦁ Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders and customers of the Fire and Rescue Training Center
⦁ Ability to coordinate and evaluate fire service training programs that meet industry standards and enhance student learning outcomes
⦁ Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with faculty, students, fire departments, and external stakeholders
⦁ Ability to assess training needs, evaluate program effectiveness, and implement process improvements to ensure high-quality educational delivery

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock, and occasionally participates in or is exposed to outdoor training and live fire training. The noise level in the work environment may be loud and require use of personal protective equipment.
