Job Summary:

This role is responsible for compiling data to maintain payroll records for Tarrant County College District (TCCD) employees.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Performance Requirements*
⦁ Compiles payroll data such as hours worked, taxes, insurance, and deductions to be withheld from time sheets and other records
⦁ Prepares computer input forms, enters data into computer files, or computes wages and deductions and posts to payroll record
⦁ Reviews wages computed and correct errors to ensure the accuracy of payroll
⦁ Records changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records
⦁ Setup wage attachments and garnishments in compliance with the IRS, Child Support Agencies, Student Loan providers, and Bankruptcy Courts
⦁ Processes data for new hires, promotions, transfers, demotions, terminations, and leaves without pay (LWOP)
⦁ Prorates expenses to be debited or credited to each department for cost accounting records
⦁ Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions
⦁ Keeps records of leave pay and nontaxable wages
⦁ Assists with the distribution of W-2 forms
⦁ Prepares and issues payments

Service Excellence
⦁ Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
⦁ Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
⦁ Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
⦁ Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College

Supervision
⦁ Works under the supervision of the assigned department leader

Required Minimum Qualifications:

⦁ High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements; or any equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

⦁ Associate's degree or 60 college hours
⦁ At least one (1) year's working experience with an automated payroll, HRIS, or enterprise resource planning (ERP) system
⦁ At least one (1) year's working experience in a college or university setting related to the Essential Performance Requirements

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

⦁ Knowledge of payroll practices
⦁ Skilled in delivering high-quality customer service and building effective interpersonal relationships, including strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills
⦁ Skilled in using computer applications and enterprise systems, including the Microsoft Office suite and the Microsoft 365 platform
⦁ Ability to apply resourcefulness when researching information, resolving issues, and identifying effective solutions
⦁ Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly ensuring accurate and timely completion, while exhibiting strong attention to detail and organization
⦁ Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in collaborative environments, engaging with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders
⦁ Ability to identify routine issues and escalate non-standard problems using established procedures in a fast-paced work environment
⦁ Ability to review basic information and follow policies, procedures, and guidelines when completing assigned tasks
⦁ Ability to maintain a high level of diplomacy and tact, ensuring confidentiality and discretion with sensitive and confidential information

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
