Each advisor is required to work one late night 10am-7pm and an occasional Saturday during the Fall and Spring terms

Job Summary:
This role is responsible for implementing career advising strategies for students from entry to completion by proactively engaging students through a case management model to access appropriate services and support achievement of their academic and career goals.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Performance Requirements*
⦁ Provides advising to assigned students and groups from entry to completion; provides career and pathway exploration and career planning; collaborates with the Career Advising Team using case management principles
⦁ Provides degree plans for core, major, and transfer students; implements career and academic advising strategies to support achievement of student career objectives
⦁ Proactively communicates internally and externally with assigned students, partners, and stakeholders through email, phone, text messaging, chat, face-to-face interactions, direct mail, and web-based communication methods
⦁ Maintains frequent check-ins with assigned students at 15, 30, and 45 credit-hour attainment milestones
⦁ Interprets student data and develops action plans and interventions
⦁ Performs records management, degree and certification planning, and supports course substitution and equivalency processes
⦁ Unofficially evaluates and interprets high school and college transcripts and test scores
⦁ Collaborates with departments to develop and implement professional development activities, student success initiatives, and workshops
⦁ Informs faculty and supports students identified through early alert processes
⦁ Supports graduation initiatives through communication, activities, and awareness efforts
⦁ Serves as a liaison among students, staff, faculty, and administrators; provides referral services, assesses and coordinates student support services, and helps streamline processes in a changing environment
⦁ Leads special projects and participates on internal committees in support of student success as assigned
Service Excellence
⦁ Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
⦁ Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
⦁ Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
⦁ Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision
Works under the supervision of the assigned campus leader

Required Minimum Qualifications:
⦁ Bachelor’s degree
⦁ Three (3) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements
⦁ Current Certificate in Advanced Education Leadership (CAEL) or any National Career Development Association (NCDA) Certification including Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP), Certified Master of Career Services (CMCS), Certified Career Counselor (CCC), Certified Clinical Supervisor of Career Counseling (CCSCC), or Certified School Career Development Advisor (CSCDA)
Preferred Qualifications:
⦁ Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, Social Work, Educational Psychology, or a closely related field
⦁ At least one (1) year’s working experience in a community college or higher education setting related to the Essential Performance Requirements
⦁ At least one (1) year’s working experience with Texas transfer pathways, Field of Study curricula, Guided Pathways frameworks, or a comparable student success and career pathway initiative
⦁ Bilingual conversational ability
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
⦁ Knowledge of student characteristics and college programs, services, and resources
⦁ Knowledge of career exploration, degree planning, transfer pathways, and student advising practices
⦁ Knowledge of student development theory, academic planning, transfer processes, and workforce-aligned educational pathways
⦁ Skilled in communication and relationship building across all areas of the College
⦁ Skilled in providing advising, guidance, and support to student populations
⦁ Ability to prepare and present programs and workshops to various audiences
⦁ Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
⦁ Ability to use online student records management systems such as Who's Next and Student Planning
⦁ Ability to work independently, follow established procedures and regulations, and use discretion and judgment
⦁ Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under conditions of high volume during peak periods
⦁ Ability to work effectively in a case management environment
⦁ Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners
⦁ Ability to analyze student data and provide recommendations based on policies, procedures, and established practices
⦁ Ability to think critically and solve problems in a dynamic environment with changing priorities

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
