Job Summary:

Reporting to the District Director of Student Affairs, the Assistant Director of Student Affairs plays a key role in managing student services to ensure alignment with the college’s strategic goals. This position ensures compliance with state initiatives and institutional policies and requires a strategic mindset, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to student-centered support services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Performance Requirements*
Leads and manages designated grants, while monitoring compliance, marketing, budget, and reporting; supports grant projects in adhering to institutional and funding agency guidelines, policy, and compliance regulations
Compiles and analyzes data in comparison to key metrics to develop strategies to positively impact student experience and satisfaction the college’s strategic plan
Assists the District Director of Student Affairs and Director of Student Success Initiatives with project planning, design, development, and implementation
Provides high level project management for student resources, services, and programs
Contributes to the development of new grants and funding proposals by providing written narratives that support student service programs
Communicates key project development, milestones, challenges, and recommend solutions to the District Director in a timely and effective manner
Develop the departmental Institutional Effective Plan to include strategic goals, metrics, and programs
Leads state and federal programs as assigned by the District Director
Manages front desk staff and supervises work study students to support the District Office of Student Affairs

General Supervision and Management
Partners with District Director of Student Affairs to manage the student affairs day-to-day office operations
Service Excellence
Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Supervision
Works under the general supervision of the District Director of Student Affairs

*Performs Other Related Tasks as Required

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree
Five (5) years' working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements
Two (2) years' experience supervising (e.g., managing, evaluating the performance of others)

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctoral degree
Five (5) years’ working experience leading strategic planning and implementation
Five (5) years’ working experience leading the development of higher education programming in Student Affairs
Five (5) years’ working experience in a community college environment related to the Essential Performance Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of Student Affairs or Student Development activities such as advising, counseling, career services, student activities, and mentoring
Skilled with highly developed oral and written communication skills, including an ability to present creative content
Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Skilled using applications and enterprise systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook software
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with student affairs, academic affairs, and enrollment services
Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations
Ability to delegate work appropriately to staff to meet College and campus deliverables
Ability to forecast and project student services needs at a high level
Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential records and information
Ability to execute assignments with strong attention to details and adherence to deadlines
Ability to think critically and identify potential issues before they arise
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
