Job Summary:
Reporting to the assigned department leader, the Specialist, Academic Support assists with development of office workflow and technical procedures for Academic Support Services including transfer equivalence tables, degree audits, institution research, prior learning assessment, office web page, course section development and maintenance, academic and event space management, and/or other office assignments.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Performance Requirements*
⦁ Applies technical skills to troubleshoot the academic and event space management system, transfer equivalence, academic calendar, course sections, degree audit, and other academic application
⦁ Performs ongoing maintenance of various academic tables, such as courses, transfer equivalencies, and institution research in the student information system
⦁ Evaluates findings from regular audits of various academic tables, making informed decisions to conduct maintenance
⦁ Provides guidance for the development of scheduled classes each term
⦁ Determines student eligibility to award prior learning assessment credit and adjust degree audit requirements for course-work substitutions, ensuring compliance with institutional guidelines
⦁ Assists with development of the schedule, including schedule recommendations and space allocation
⦁ Assists the Coordinator with project planning, design, development, and implementation with exception to degree audits, institution research, transfer equivalencies, courses, sections, academic and event space management, prior learning assessment, and term sessions
⦁ Provides district support and assists with training for exception to degree audits, institution research, transfer equivalencies, courses, sections, academic and event space management, prior learning assessment, and term sessions
⦁ Collects and analyzes data for identification of trends to inform schedule development and ensure compliance with institutional and state guidelines
⦁ Assists with system setup and maintenance for space management and academic scheduling solutions
⦁ Interprets course section and space management inquiries and performs corresponding operational actions, ensuring compliance with scheduling protocols and system workflows
⦁ Conducts routine and ad hoc audits of course sections, room inventories, and event data to ensure accuracy and compliance, completing necessary updates
Service Excellence
⦁ Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
⦁ Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
⦁ Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
⦁ Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision
⦁ Works under the general supervision of the assigned department leader

Required Minimum Qualifications:
⦁ Associate's degree or 60 college hours
⦁ Two (2) years' working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
⦁ Microsoft Excel Specialist: Microsoft Excel Associate or Microsoft Excel Specialist: Microsoft Excel Expert certification
⦁ At least one (1) year’s working experience with room reservation or scheduling software systems such as Ad Astra
⦁ At least one (1) year’s working experience managing student information in an Enterprise Resource Planning system such as Colleague
⦁ At least one (1) year’s working experience developing and leading training
⦁ At least one (1) year’s working experience with section building and maintenance for credit and non-credit courses
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
⦁ Knowledge of higher education standards and policies
⦁ Skilled in excellent customer service, including strong listening, verbal, and written communication
⦁ Skilled using applications and enterprise systems, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
⦁ Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
⦁ Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
⦁ Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations
⦁ Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables
⦁ Ability to adaptively perform and prioritize multiple tasks and projects seamlessly, ensuring accurate and timely completion, while exhibiting strong attention to detail and organization
