Job Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Chief of Police, the Police Training Coordinator performs complex administrative work in planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing department wide training programs and services.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Performance Requirements*
Plans and coordinates field training programs for recruits and in-service training for police and security officers
Designs and applies evaluation techniques and proficiency testing methods to measure the effectiveness of training
Remains current in best practices to apply the most appropriate methodologies by attending conferences, educational programs and seminars, reading professional publications, utilizing online resources, and participating in professional organizations
Works with campus supervisors in scheduling officers to attend in-service training; ensures compliance with all Federal, State, and Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) training requirements
Communicates with training instructors, arranges for course instructors, allocates space, and ensures availability of training materials and equipment
Prepares detailed schedules for training including but not limited to travel parameters, presentations, and off-site training as required
Coordinates training of the department's Victim's Assistance, Crime Prevention, Bicycle Patrol, and Honor Guard units
Communicates with different audiences (e.g., employees, agencies, the public) to provide information and clarification regarding training programs, actions, policies, and procedures
Directs the review and selection of training materials and acquires copyright clearances to obtain the highest quality source materials to ensure compliance with federal copyright
Service Excellence
Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the Essential Performance Requirements*
Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision
Works under the general supervision of the Assistant Chief of Police
*Performs Other Related Tasks as Required

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree or 60 college hours
Two (2) years' working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements
Current Instructor Proficiency Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Office Management, Records Management, Computer Science, Adult Education, Criminal Justice, or related field
At least one (1) year's working experience in a campus police department
At least one (1) year's working experience in a college or academic institution related to the Essential Performance Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Skilled in directing, developing, evaluating, and teaching curricula and academic programs
Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships, including strong listening, verbal, and written communication
Skilled in the operation of all equipment utilized by the Police Department and necessary to perform assigned tasks
Skilled in using computer applications and enterprise systems, including the Microsoft Office suite
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment, either individually or as part of a team
Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied and unpredictable in scope and volume
Ability to assess situations and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations while exhibiting a strong attention to detail and organization
Ability to maintain a high level of diplomacy and tact, ensuring confidentiality and discretion
