Work Hours: Monday - Friday 6:00am - 3:00pm, varies based on department needs.

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for the upkeep and appearance of outdoor areas by performing groundskeeping tasks.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Performance Requirements*
⦁ Performs tasks and completes work orders to maintain the grounds and landscapes
⦁ Follows written or verbal directions or specifications, including planned landscape designs
⦁ Removes and transports trash and debris from public areas to the designated central collection location on a daily basis, and performs inspection of grounds regularly
⦁ Removes snow, ice, or debris from walkways, driveways, and parking lots, and spreads salt in those areas to prevent slip, trip, and fall accidents
⦁ Performs proper upkeep and maintenance of irrigation system, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, water features, or other grounds features
⦁ Assists with both indoor and outdoor event set up and tear down
⦁ Wears appropriate safety items and protective clothing

Service Excellence
⦁ Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
⦁ Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
⦁ Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College

Supervision
Works under the general supervision of the assigned department leader

Required Minimum Qualifications:

⦁ High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
⦁ One (1) year’s working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements
⦁ Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and proof of insurance

Preferred Qualifications:

⦁ At least one (1) year's working experience performing the essential performance requirements on a college, university, or similar campus or facility
⦁ At least one (1) year’s working experience operating fork-lifts, zero turn mowers, and tractors
⦁ At least one (1) year’s working experience in the application of pesticides

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

⦁ Comprehensive knowledge of all local regulations pertaining to ground maintenance
⦁ Knowledge of installation techniques for pavers, timbers, rocks, and other hard-scaping materials
⦁ Knowledge of horticulture, including plant identification and care, soil health, weed identification, and pest control
⦁ Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships
⦁ Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships, including strong listening, verbal, and written communication
⦁ Ability to safely handle and operate grounds vehicle, equipment, and groundskeeping tools
⦁ Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representatives of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to the regular use of power tools and machinery and require use of personal protective equipment.
