Job Summary:

Reporting to the General Maintenance Supervisor, the General Maintenance technician is responsible for routine maintenance and repair of the campus and facilities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Performance Requirements*
Performs semi-skilled technical tasks for routine maintenance duties to facilities and outdoor structures
Performs scheduled preventative maintenance tasks
Conducts routine walk-through inspections of the facilities and outdoor structures
Assist in skilled trades repair and maintenance
Escorts contractors when professional services are necessary
Ability to follow/ reference standard operating procedures
Ability to use hand/ power tools
Ability to diagnose/ troubleshoot issues
Completes work orders as assigned

Service Excellence
Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College

Supervision
Works under the general supervision of the General Maintenance Supervisor

*Performs Other Related Tasks as Required

Required Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
Six (6) months General Maintenance experience
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

At least one (1) year's working experience with the operation of fork-lifts, bobcats and backhoes

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of basic plumbing and electrical skills
Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships
Skilled using applications and enterprise systems, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
